We believe that the world of entrepreneurship is filled with resources from various sources such as publications, peers, friends and family, and advice about starting and running a business, and that the youth in our mentorship programme must benefit from such resources in order to succeed. Our dedicated business mentors with diverse experience have the greatest impact on the growth of the businesses that the youth start.
Mentorship
Our mentors are friendly with their mentees, but they use their expertise to tell them what they need to hear rather than what they want to hear. Our mentors have built relationships with our supported youth entrepreneurs over time, and some with business experience have acted as guides, offering advice, guidance, and support to help them run and improve their businesses. This is critical because 80% of the businesses for youth under the programme are celebrating their second anniversaries.
Because our business mentors have relevant expertise or knowledge, an interest in sharing expertise, willingness to invest in others, the ability to give honest and direct feedback, as well as reflective listening and empathy, they successfully help the youth develop ideas, overcome challenges, achieve their career goals, and joyfully celebrate their victories. All of our young entrepreneurs meet quarterly and annually to evaluate the performance of their businesses, as well as to share experiences and brainstorm possible solutions to the challenges they face. The foundation rewards the best-performing businesses in terms of revenue as a move to motivate and encourage others.
Coaching
At Laā Marc Foundation we believe continuous support is critical for success of younger entrepreneurs. We therefore ensure each new entrepreneur receives coaching to assist and guide the business entrepreneurs in running their businesses by helping them clarify the vision of their business and how it fits in with their personal goals. All this is aimed at achieving business growth for the supported entrepreneurs by giving them generic skills that are crucial for business success.
