Name of Beneficiary: Nalukenge Robina
Robina’s father died when she was just two years old, leaving her mother to care for her and three other siblings. Robina’s mother made a life by vending on the streets of Kampala, but she eventually ran out of capital and was unable to feed Robinah and the rest of her siblings
. Robinah went to live with her paternal auntie, who paid her school fees until when the Auntie died when Robinah was in senior four. Robinah was offered a position as a house maid when she was 16 years old, but she was impregnated by her employer two years later, making her a mother at the age of 19.
She used to receive support from her child’s father, but she eventually lost contact with him, and she now struggles to care for the child on her own. The agony of her child not attending school is obvious on her face as she describes the daily struggles she is facing. She is a committed Christian who hopes that God will grant her ambition of enrolling in a tailoring class and eventually opening her own tailoring shop so that she may support her child and siblings.
Robinah has undergone spiritual restoration at La’ Marc Foundation, which has strengthened her faith in Christ.
